The DeWalt DW1956 16 Piece Pilot Point Twist Drill Bit Assortment comes with pilot point tips for starts on contact that result in clean, accurate holes. These bits are designed to reduce lock-up on breakthrough, and also feature a no-spin shank that eliminates the frustration of bit spinning in the chuck. Other features include a tapered web for greater durability and reduced breaking, and size markings are located above the shank to prevent wearing away. only problem i have with this set is the case which works well but the biggest two bits are very difficult to remove and replace, but other then that they are great. these bits are very hungry to chew through just about anything, all though i haven't had the chance to test out the pilot point yet i'm sure they will work well enough.
The case they come in is worth the price alone. Great bits, work good in my dewalt cordless drill.
But still a very good product. This is the second set of these bits I have purchased; the first set disappeared from a job site. After I got this set from Amazon, I saw similar/same set at Lowes for a few bucks less: I was surprised.
May be it will do better for some one who uses for wood only. The makita drills I had in a different combination set I bought were not as precise but they are still useful. My usage has been about 60% wood and 40% drywall/wood combination. They were real good in the begining. I am not a contractor but do use it quite often around the house. But within a year, half are way too dull. Pilot point worked as advertised. A few are out of shape.
Not sure you can get a better value at $20. I bought it to help hang pictures, hooks, etc and it has everything needed. Great set of drill bits for somebody doing misc. tasks around the house.
